Puerto Rico Hereditary Non Polyposis Colorectal Cancer Registry

Since October 16,1997 a Registry for Families with Hereditary Non Polyposis Colorectal Cancer was developed at Ryder Memorial Hospital by Dr. Rafael A. Mosquera in Humacao, Puerto Rico, with the help of Dr. Henry T. Lynch, Director of the Hereditary Cancer Institute at Crieghton School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska.

Our objectives are to identify families with this type of hereditary colon cancer, develop a pedigree of the family so that the colorectal cancer risk can be determined; orient them on screening techniques available, depending on their risk and helping them to understand it. Families with this condition are evaluated for germ line mutations, a genetic test available through the Registry free of charge
