SiKeO main goal is to provide citizens of Puerto Rico the opportunity to be informed about their environment. SiKeO is an organized effort to collect internet environmental information relevant to Puerto Rico's environment and make it available to the public in an easy to use format. The purpose is to provide the general public or concerned groups an information tool on which to develop informed public opinion and expedient response to environmental concerns and problems.

SiKeO was the name given to Desecheo Island, one of our oceanic islands, by the first inhabitants of our archipielago. This oceanic island had one of the most impressive sea bird colonies in the caribbean until it dissapeared mostly in the 20th century due to government blessed environmental abuse. After decades of disregard the island became part of a refuge system developed by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. SiKeO in the 20th century was a scenario of destruction and disregard. SiKeO in the 21st century shall become a magnificent example of human environmental ethics and a scenario where our descendants can visit its rugged shores and feel in harmony within the largest colony of sea birds in the caribbean.
